At Destiny City, we believe in the importance of community, collaboration, belonging, empowerment, and serving each other. The Bible sums this up, all in just two verses!
Hebrews 10:24-25 – And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
When you join a church, you’re saying to God, “I believe in the place You created where I can encounter you, learn more about you, grow, be empowered, and become a part of something more!”
“What does God want from me?” This is a common question that many people have. Someone once asked Jesus which was the greatest commandment. His answer was, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:30–32). Simply put, God wants us. All our service for God must flow from these two commandments to love.
God also wants us to put our trust in His Son as our Lord and Savior. (Philippians 2:9–11). 2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord . . . is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Through repentance and accepting Jesus as the personal sacrifice for our sins, we can enter into a relationship with God.
God wants us to know Him personally. When Jesus’ disciples asked Him to show them the Father, He replied, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). God wants us to know Him, and we can only know Him through Jesus.
Baptism is one of two ordinances that Jesus instructed. Just before He ascended into heaven, Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19–20). Baptism is a commandment of Jesus for every believer.
Baptism is how a person makes a public profession of faith and discipleship. Through baptism, we say by our immersion in water, “I confess faith in Christ; Jesus has washed my soul from sin, and I now have a new life of sanctification.”
Helping you find your destiny is a complex process, a process that begins with God as the Source of all things. God has sovereignly created a plan for each of us, illustrated in His Word to Jeremiah, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations’” (Jeremiah 1:4-5).
David also learned that God had a plan for him, when he wrote “Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (Psalm 139:16). Because David realized this, David sought God’s specific instruction in many situations, such as in 1 Samuel 23:9-12.
To discover your destiny, you need a relationship with God. Through this relationship, God will give you specific instructions, and help you to understand His Word that is the guide for how we should live. Having a Pastor or Senior Leader that can teach you the Word of God is a huge step in you discovering your destiny. Let’s connect and start the journey together!
